One final spotlight for Sony’s ill-fated shooter Concord on Prime Video’s Secret Level before the Concord cancellation happens.
Despite the sudden cancellation of Concord, the live-service game will still make its way to Amazon Prime Video’s upcoming anthology series Secret Level. Announced during Gamescom, Secret Level features 15 standalone short stories based on iconic video game franchises.
Fans wondered if Concord would remain part of the show after PlayStation pulled the plug on the game. However, sources confirmed to IGN that Concord will still appear in the series.
Concord’s Struggles and Sudden Shutdown
PlayStation launched Concord on August 23, 2024, but it’s already facing an early Concord Cancellation on September 6, 2024, less than two weeks later. The game’s struggles were evident from day one, with player numbers so low you could practically meet everyone playing the game in one lobby.
With a peak of fewer than 700 players on Steam, Concord never took off the way PlayStation hoped. As a result, the company quickly pulled the game and offered refunds to the handful of players who actually bought it.
Still, Concord isn’t completely out of the spotlight. Its world will live on through Prime Video’s Secret Level, offering a rare second chance for the game to reach an audience. If you missed out on the game—which, let’s be honest, most people did—you’ll have another chance to explore its universe through this anthology series.
From Small Player Base to "Big Screen" Cameo
Secret Level is an exciting new anthology series from Prime Video, set to release on December 10, 2024. Directed by Tim Miller, known for his work on Love, Death & Robots, the show will bring 15 standalone short stories from a mix of famous video game franchises. Along with Concord, the series will feature beloved titles like God of War, Mega Man, and Unreal Tournament.
Secret Level gained a lot of attention at Gamescom not just for the franchises included, but for Miller’s involvement. His creative style and ability to mix sci-fi, action, and animation have raised expectations for the series.
While Concord may not have found its audience as a game—unless you count the dedicated few that don’t mind the Concord Cancellation—you could say it’s getting the ultimate upgrade by joining Secret Level’s lineup.
Could Concord Stage Its Comeback?
Even though Concord is going offline, there’s still a glimmer of hope for its return. Firewalk Studios hinted that they’re exploring ways to rework the game, with a possible free-to-play relaunch on the horizon.
Nothing official has been announced yet, but the studio seems interested in keeping Concord alive in some form. In the meantime, its small but loyal player base is spending their final hours jumping off cliffs and grinding for that elusive platinum trophy before the servers shut down.
While Concord didn’t make waves in the gaming world—aside from its tiny player base—it’s not disappearing completely. Thanks to Prime Video’s Secret Level, the game will get another shot at capturing people’s attention, just in a different way.
Despite the Concord Cancellation—Concord's Story Isn't Over Yet
With Tim Miller’s touch and a star-studded lineup of iconic franchises, Secret Level could become a hit for both gamers and general audiences. As Concord shifts from a small gaming community to a broader TV audience, its story isn’t over just yet.
Concord’s inclusion in Secret Level might even spark new interest in its universe. Prime Video has a broad reach, and who knows?
Maybe more people will learn about Concord from the show than from the actual game. Whether it eventually makes a triumphant return to gaming or not, this streaming opportunity is at least keeping Concord in the conversation.
How Concord's Shutdown Is Going to Affect Amazon
The delisting and closure of Concord is difficult for Amazon. Why? The game will be included in the animated narrative series Secret Level, which will be available on Prime Video around December 10.
Since its first announcement, Concord has struggled. Despite the fact that the new hero-shooter was completely despised by PlayStation enthusiasts for a variety of reasons, few anticipated its terrible performance.
Tim Miller, the man behind Love, Death & Robots, is working on an animated anthology series called Secret Level. With 16 brands announced to yet, every episode centers around a different video game.
One of these is Concord, whose episode appears to include the game’s shotgun-wielding character, Star Child. However, this episode will be completely out of place on Secret Level after Concord is canceled.
Until the hero-shooter returns at some time between now and the show’s December 10 premiere, it will essentially be advertising a game that does not exist.
What Do You Think About Concord Being in Amazon Prime's Secret Level Despite The Concord Cancellation?
anthology series is going to be pretty weird. However, I do understand that it would also be a waste if Amazon Prime was just simply plucked out from the series, especially if its episode had already been made.
But what do you think? Should Concord stay in Amazon Prime’s Secret Level? Or should Concord be pulled out from the series? Type down your thoughts in the comments below.
