News on Monster Hunter Wilds—Capcom reveals the newest addition to their Monster Hunter franchise during PS5’s State of Play event.

The eagerly anticipated video game Monster Hunter Wilds’ release date has been formally revealed by Capcom. Fans got what they had been waiting for—a confirmed launch date—at Sony’s State of Play event. The game will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S on February 28, 2025. After months of waiting, this news has been made, and players can finally start getting ready for what may be one of the biggest releases of 2025.

Not only do we get the release date, but Capcom also dropped some exciting pre-order bonuses, adding even more reason to reserve your copy of Monster Hunter Wilds early.

Here’s an official gameplay when the game’s Open Beta was released:

Monster Hunter Wilds Pre-Order Bonuses: What’s in Store?

A treat for those who can’t wait for their dive into the Monster Hunter universe, Capcom made it sweeter. For those who pre-order a copy of Monster Hunter Wilds, they receive two special items: Guild Knight Set Layered Armor and Hope Charm Talisman. Not decorations, mind you, these will give a player some benefits in-game.

Meanwhile, the Layered Armor with Guild Knight Set gives a dashing style for aesthetic purposes to the player. It definitely sits well to stand out in hunts. Then, during the launch, there’s also the Hope Charm Talisman, which brings buffs for hunters as they take down the massive monsters awaiting their arrival.

These items can only be pre-ordered, so Monster Hunter fans better hurry if they want them. Oh, but before you pre-order the game, you might want to check out its MHW PC system requirements.

New Features Coming to Monster Hunter Wilds

Where the franchise is known for epic battles and intricate systems, Monster Hunter Wilds appears to have leveled up the gameplay experience even further, as confirmed by Capcom: a few fresh mechanics are on their way that will introduce a new kind of challenge to the game.”.

The biggest thing, of course, has got to be Focus Mode—and not just focus mode, mind you, as it’s perfect for those tight, last-minute hunts where a little extra firepower can make all the difference. That is, of course, but another of their new additions: Wounds. Adding strategy to combat is going to be a big hit this time around. One will have to target weak points to maximize damage.

A new mysterious creature, Seikret, is also presented to aid players in navigating through Monster Hunter Wilds. With the help of Seikrets, you’ll be able to access new areas and acquire special advantages during hunting. These changes seem to add more excitement to exploration and combat for both experienced and fresh players alike.

The Scarlet Forest: A New Locale to Explore

Along with gameplay changes, Capcom has announced yet another new location: The Scarlet Forest. This verdant, hazardous environment brings with it new terrain to explore and new monsters to hunt. Gamers will have to hone their skills while fishing, cliff climbing, and doing all they can in its rich landscape found in Monster Hunter Wilds.

The recent trailer gives a closer look at this dense forest, and one of the characters, the Slinger—a hookshot-style tool which allows players to swing between cliffs or simply destroy parts of the environment for strategic advantages. You can interact with the environment, which adds another layer of depth to the combat. Now, you cannot rely on brute strength; you have to take into account that perhaps sometimes just swinging and then thinking about how to use your surroundings is more important.

The Slinger isn’t just for battles, though. It also makes the traversal of the world much more fluid. Added to that is this new Seikret mount, players will have the ability to cross landscapes with ease. Together, these elements will make exploration something completely dynamic. Even the exploration aspects of Infinity Nikki can’t match this!

Different Editions and Extra Bonuses

Capcom isn’t done there with pre-order bonuses, either; several editions of MHW have been announced, each offering even more extra content for those looking to get the most out of their experience.

  • Standard Edition: Contains the base game.
  • Deluxe Edition: Includes Deluxe Pack for the most exciting stuff, alongside anythingfrom exclusive layered armor both for the player and his Palico–to gesture or hairstyle.
  • Premium Deluxe Edition: All the content included in Deluxe Edition comes with this, but some bonus music tracks, player profile customization options, and extra headgear.

Another perk for long time fans is the save data feature. You will unlock special Palico armor and weapons if you have saved data from Monster Hunter World or Monster Hunter World: Iceborne on your console. It’s a great nod to the fans who have been there all these years and gives that little bit of extra incentive to replay those titles before Monster Hunter Wilds drops.

A Next-Gen Experience

This is one of those titles that will define the next-gen consoles. For the first time, there’s a game in the franchise that will simultaneously be released on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, meaning fans can get involved on all platforms from day one.

Trailers have pretty impressive visuals, with stunning graphics and fluid gameplay throughout. In addition, the open world does look pretty expansive and lively, which can only be the natural progression from the design showcased in Monster Hunter World and Rise. Expect all environments to be much more detailed, richer in combat mechanics, and many more monsters to hunt within this next-gen installment.
