As October rolls in, horror games take center stage for PlayStation 5 players. If you’re looking to create the perfect Halloween gaming playlist, we’ve got you covered. This year, we compiled a list of your must-play titles this chilling season. Each game offers a unique take on terror, perfect for getting into the spooky spirit. Let’s dive into the PlayStation Horror Games for 2024 that deserve a spot in your line-up.
Creepy Tale: Some Other Place – A Fairy Tale Gone Wrong
Released on September 27, Creepy Tale: Some Other Place is an adventure filled with puzzles, mystery, and a whole lot of eerie atmosphere. You’ll step into the shoes of Martin, a guy who just wanted a peaceful fishing trip. But things take a dark turn, and Martin is pulled into “some other place.” Now you’re left to figure out how to get home, solve riddles, and uncover spooky secrets along the way. The game sets you on a quest where nothing is as it seems.
This game is perfect if you love a mix of creepy storytelling and puzzle-solving. The fairytale-like world and the dynamic events will keep you on your toes. With each new area you explore, you’ll encounter characters and challenges that make every step of the journey feel both mysterious and exciting. If you haven’t played the Creepy Tale series before, don’t worry—this one tells a whole new story. Ready to uncover the truth and save everyone you can? Start your journey today.
Lunacy: Saint Rhodes – Terror Lurks Around Every Corner
If psychological horror is more your style, then Lunacy: Saint Rhodes is a game you can’t miss. Released earlier this year —and just this September 26 in PS5—, it plunges you deep into a disturbing world. You’ll investigate the horrifying murder of your family while surviving the terrifying secrets of the town of Saint Rhodes. This game excels at building an atmosphere where every creak and shadow sends shivers down your spine.
In Lunacy: Saint Rhodes, you are never alone. Something watches you, making you feel constantly on edge as you explore the dark corners of your ancestral home. Solving puzzles and piecing together clues becomes more dangerous the deeper you dive. It’s a terrifying experience that blends exploration, puzzle-solving, and survival in a way that’s perfect for horror fans. With detailed environments and a story that keeps getting darker, this game is a perfect fit for a Halloween marathon.
Silent Hill 2 - Remake – One of the Best Playstation Horror Games for 2024 and a Psychological Horror One at That
And last but definitely not the least, Silent Hill 2 hardly needs an introduction. Silent Hill 2 – Remake is set to be released on October 8, 2024 on PS5. This new version boasts of a brand new level of immersion. From controller haptic feedback to 3D audio, all with stunning 4k visuals. Experience every threatening moment with you full sense and immerse yourself in a psychological horror like never before.
To those new to the series, the story follows James as he searches for his dead wife in the eerie town of Silent Hill. What he finds there is a terrifying mix of guilt, loss, and things that should not exist. Fans of the original will recognize the haunting story (which is the same thing that I can say for the news about Until Dawn remake struggling with player count on PlayStation 5), while newcomers will get a chance to experience what many consider the best horror game ever made. If you love horror games that mess with your mind, Silent Hill 2 – Remake should be at the top of your list.
Personally though, the original version of Silent Hill 2 had a creepier vibe to it. I guess the limitations of the console at that time also added more tension to the experience, like if you opted for the “tank controls” instead of the “camera-based controls” to play the game.
However, I will acknowledge that not everyone is going to like the “tank controls.” I didn’t like it as well, but I did play through the original Silent Hill 2 with it turned on to elevate the risk and tension of the game.
