Now, you’re probably thinking, “Wait a minute, Jake. You’re talking about the second installment. There’s a ‘Part 1’ for the game?” In response, I say that there is undoubtedly a “Part 1.” Although I won’t go into great detail about it here, I will provide some gameplay from No More Room in Hell.

With that in mind, let’s go ahead and examine what’s under the hood for No More Room in Hell 2—a game that got people as excited as when Red Dead Redemption announced to be on PC!

What's New in This Sequel-Revival of a Classic Zombie Survival Horror Game?

Since 2016, the original group of modders has been working on a follow-up project under the moniker Lever Games. However, Torn Banner Studios, the company that developed Chivalry 2, ate up their team last year. With the allocation of “quadruple” resources, their crew swelled from a few part-timers to over 40.

This project is no longer part-time. The cramped Mission maps of No More Room in Hell are expanded upon in this sequel. It now features eight players and a single large map, with objectives that can be completed in any sequence.

Since I already had experience playing the first iteration of the game, I kind of have an idea of what the game will be. However, I still wasn’t prepared for how much the developers had upgraded the game. It honestly felt like I was watching an entirely different zombie game, with familiar elements tied into it.

I’m a big survival horror fan. Back in the day, I played Dino Crisis, Resident Evil (1, 2, and 3), Fatal Frame III: The Tormented, Evil Dead: Hail to the King, Dead Space 1 and 2, and a whole lot more. Aside from that, I played a ton of Left 4 Dead, too.

I’ve spent many hours playing cooperative shooters, but never a game that capitalizes on the scarcity of survival horror like No More Room in Hell 2.

What Makes No More Room in Hell 2 Different?

Let me be abundantly clear here: I haven’t played No More Room in Hell 2 as of writing. The game still hasn’t been released from where I am, and only a select few are given early access to the game. But from what I read and seen online, the game seems to be a banger.

NMRIH 2 is a zombie extraction survival horror game, the keyword being a survival horror game. Staying true to the survival horror format, it lacks safe rooms, checkpoints, and a never-ending supply of ammunition. As of writing, rummaging through the Power Plant map—the only map available in early access—and finding a complete magazine of ammunition was a rare treat.

Flashlights are essential in the dead of night, but their supply of batteries is limited. Since map resources aren’t replicated, players would have to divide and allocate any extra gear they find in car trunks, sheds, or abandoned houses among the gang.

With the numerous gameplay I’ve seen online, I can confidently say that this NMRIH 2 does the legendary Source mod a justified resurrection, albeit a morbidly macabre and challenging one.

When Will No More Room in Hell 2 Be Released?

NMRIH 2 is set to release on October 22, 2024. This is probably one of the biggest announcements in the gaming industry, similar to the Stardew Valley 1.6 update announcement.

Players are certainly going to have a treat with this one, especially with Halloween just peeking around the corner. Though there may be bug fixes in the version that launches on Steam on October 22, I would still expect a rough ride.

Naturally, this is just the start: the studio has a ton of other things planned. Torn Banner Studios has a solid roadmap for the game. It’s very likely that players will soon witness additional weapons, zombie varieties, a second game mode, maps, and performance enhancements.

Oh, and here’s the gameplay I have for No More Room in Hell that I was talking about:

October 22, 2024 Is the Date When the Dead Will Walk the Earth!

Personally, I’m excited for No More Room in Hell 2’s release. It has the potential to become a cooperative shooting game that my buddies and I will enjoy for a long time. Torn Banner Studios seems to be in this for the long run, which I hope they truly are.
