Big news within the indie development space with poncle’s Vampire Survivors Castlevania DLC release just in time for the Halloween season to kick into overdrive.

The Ode to Castlevania expansion for the popular indie game Vampire Survivors will be released on Halloween. It includes the largest amount of downloadable material to date, which gamers will surely see as a treat. October might truly be the best month for gaming this year because No More Room in Hell 2 is also set to release for Halloween, specifically on October 22, 2024.

Below is a DLC trailer that developer poncle posted on X/Twitter. For $3.99, it has 40 weapons, over 20 characters, a huge stage, and “and more.” “There’s so much content you’re guaranteed at least another 10 hours of gameplay,” said poncle.
A few of the characters that will be joining the game are showcased in a chic animated teaser that combines the pixel art gameplay of Vampire Survivors with sleek Castlevania animations. On Halloween, Ode to Castlevania will launch on all platforms wherein Vampire Survivors is accessible.

What Is the Game Vampire Survivors All About?
You can rapidly snowball against the countless number of enemies that are sent at you in the fast-paced, gothic horror game Vampire Survivors, which also features rogue-lite aspects. What started out as a little independent game on Steam quickly gained enormous popularity. Not long after, it became one of the biggest surprise successes of the past few years.
Poncle quickly added layers of extra content to the game, and currently, there are 80 weapons and 50 playable characters in the main experience. This feat predates the Ode to Castlevania DLC and the two significant expansions.
I personally play Vampire Survivors on my mobile phone, so I know how addicting the game can be. Believe me when I tell you that 15 or 30 minutes of gameplay can easily pass by. You won’t even be able to notice the time pass due to how engaging and riveting the game is, as proven by IGN’s 8/10 review of Vampire Survivors.
Now, I know that you might think I’m exaggerating here. But really, I encourage you to try the game and see the results for yourself. Just don’t blame me when you get addicted, though.

What Are Some of the Inclusions in the New Vampire Survivors Castlevania DLC?
The following list includes a few of the names of characters and weapons that are exclusive to the DLC pack:
- Players are treated to the Belmonts character package; this includes Trevor, Simon, Sonia, and Richter.
- A large number of witches, including Yoko and Sypha Belnade, Maria Renard, and Charlotte Aulin.
- There are now eight new whip weapons players can get.
- Elemental spells inspired by Harmony Of Dissonance and Portrait Of Ruin.
- Additional magic weapons, specifically with Alucard’s shield, sword, and spear.
More than 30 songs from Castlevania’s past will also be included in the pack. These were remixed in the Vampire Survivors manner by composers Filippo Vicarelli and Daniele Zandara, among others.
Vampire Survivors: Ode to Castlevania bundle goes up on October 31 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC, mobile devices, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
poncle's Collaborative Partnership With Other Games and Developers
Although Ode to Castlevania is the most recent partnership DLC to be released for Vampire Survivors, Konami and poncle have previously collaborated on games together. Earlier this year, a Contra crossover event introduced Bill and Lance, the shooter’s primary heroes, to Vampire Survivors. In December 2023, the Among Us crew members used the Emergency Meeting pack to defeat creatures.

I am beyond excited for Vampire Survivors’s DLC to be released. I can already see myself glued to my mobile phone’s screen as I mow down ungodly hordes of enemies.
My eyes are probably going to be bloodshot again from lack of sleep, but screw it. Someone needs to keep the forces of evil at bay, and I am more than happy to oblige. Just like Pathologic 3‘s surprise reveal, Vampire Survivors: Ode to Castlevania has everyone hyped!
