Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 has impressively amassed 4.5 million USD (United States Dollars) in just over a month. Based on this massive amount of sales, we can safely say that millions of players are dedicated to the tabletop game and its videogame adaptation. I bet that a lot of gamers are now looking out for the upcoming Black Friday deals of 2024 to see if Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 will have major discounts.

You know how we do it here at GameEels, guys. It’s not gaming news if we don’t dive deeper, so join me as we learn the details of this awesome news!

Space Marine 2 Sales Numbers Reach for the Sky

Publisher Focus Entertainment was pleased when they made this announcement on X (formerly known as Twitter). When it was released on September 9, the action game by Saber Interactive, which takes place in the grimdark science fiction world created by Games Workshop, had already smashed records.

With a massive peak concurrent player count, it is currently the most played Warhammer 40,000, or Warhammer video game, released to date on Steam. After a little more than a month of release, 4.5 million people have played Space Marine 2.

Saber Chief Creative Officer Tim Willits expressed on IGN that the amazing success of Space Marine 2 literally “changed everything” for Saber Interactive. While Willits at the time would not provide specific sales or profit figures, he did state that Space Marine 2 is the fastest-selling videogame he has ever worked on. And on the roster of videogames that Willits had a hand in, you got some major hits like Doom, Wolfenstein, and Quake.

According to Willits, Space Marine 2’s budget was just under fifty percent of that of Doom: Eternal. Doom: Eternal is the last id Software game he was the studio director of prior to leaving in 2019 to join Saber Interactive. Space Marine 2’s sales, with the standard version presently available for $59.99 on Steam and $69.99 on game consoles, are probably already a very profitable project for all parties.

Developers Are Thinking of Making a Space Marine 3 Sequel

Though Space Marine 2 has a clear Year 1 roadmap of post-launch support to provide, there are already concepts circulating for the apparently inevitable Space Marine 3. Regarding that, Focus has officially announced that the much-awaited Dark Angels chapter cosmetic pack, the new Neo-Volkite handgun, and the Tyranid Hierophant Bio-Titan enemy class will all be arriving soon.

Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine 2 sales truly have the devs providing more content for their players as a way of thanking them for their support. But wait, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 has a lot more to give.

Fans with keen eyes have noticed that the Space Marine chapter will certainly receive a cosmetic bundle after the Dark Angels, along with an unnamed new opponent class called Thousand Sons.

To top things off, Saber just released the revolutionary patch 3.0 for Space Marine 2. Similar to how the Helldivers 2 patch update is very important, Warhammer 40,000 is going to want to read the major changes happening in the game.

Overall, fans seem to be very excited about the changes the patch will bring, especially with Season 2 set to start once the month of October ends.
