Neowiz Games teased players long ago about the Soulslike game’s planned sequel, a bit similar to how Ubisoft reveals the numerous upcoming Assassin’s Creed games. The game’s post-credits revealed some bits of information pertaining to what the sequel would look like. Fans of Lies of P were treated to some Wizard of Oz vibes, and with confirmation from the game developers, the future of a Pinocchio x Wizard of Oz Soulslike game is looking pretty good.
However, with such ambitious plans come many challenges, and today we’ll be taking a look at what tough choices Neowiz Games would have to make regarding the iconic characters from Wizard of Oz.
What Do We Currently Know About a Potential Lies of P 2?
Though little is known regarding the follow-up or the DLC for Lies of P, some concept art seems to hint that Dorothy’s story may be saved for the sequel. This indicates that there is an additional opportunity to keep playing as a puppet and that the girl who is no longer in Kansas may be the game’s main character.
But despite all the hoopla surrounding Dorothy, fans should take into account a crucial aspect of this Oz adaptation. Neowiz must decide whether Dorothy’s friends will stay her friends or transform into bosses that gamers will have to face along the journey.
What Does Turning Wizard of Oz Characters Into Bosses Mean for an Expansion of the Game?
In the same scene where Dorothy first appears, an alchemist by the name of Paracelsus informs a woman over the phone that the events in Lies of P’s Krat were viewed as an experiment that would create a new kind of humanity, with Dorothy being viewed as “another key” by Paracelsus.
Sadly, this potential Lies of P sequel scene has a discussion that is largely one-sided and ambiguous, making it difficult to define exactly what this experiment comprises.
It raises the issue of whether there will be additional experiments, which Lies of P will have an opportunity to play within how characters like the Tin Woodman (or Tin Man, if you prefer the classic film), the Cowardly Lion, and many more are made.
We certainly have a lot of room for theories and discussions about what the possible sequel of the game can be. This could be a possible calculated move from Neowiz Games (to help hype up the sequel of Lies of P), or perhaps this could be a result of players wanting more out of the game while waiting for its sequel. Either way, what’s clear here is that a big portion of the gaming community is excited to see Lies of P gameplay for Part 2.
What Can Players Expect From This Possible New Lies of P Story?
Gamers may anticipate seeing the same quartet from the film in a Lies of P Sequel that is reminiscent of Wizard of Oz. The main difference could possibly come from the Tin Man, the Cowardly Lion, and the Scarecrow becoming enemy bosses. If you know your Wizard of Oz lore, then you know this greatly differs from the children’s novel and the technicolor movie.
However, given that the Wizard of Oz was a hoax in the first place, Dorothy might be collaborating with her companions to use Ergo’s ability. Ergo can be used to fulfill their wishes while being aware of the “experiments” in which P would have to discover the truth as he went along.
No matter which path Neowiz and Round8 Studio choose to take Oz’s numerous personalities, gamers are sure to be in for an exciting game full of surprises. It’s almost as exciting as the Fortnite Halloween 2024 announcement.
