Gamers have discovered a Warcraft 2 Remastered leak, and it’s sending every Warcraft fan into overdrive because the leak got everyone excited for it to happen!

Even I am excited about this news because I grew up playing Warcraft and Starcraft (ah, the good old days when Blizzard was still making awesome games). Although news of a Warcraft 2 Remastered has been circulating around, there’s never been any teaser or image about it, unlike The World of Warcraft Mountain Dew collab.

A Warcraft 2 Leak That Has Everyone in a Frenzy
A week before their scheduled Warcraft Direct commemorating the 30th anniversary of its most well-known series, Blizzard seems to have revealed the secret: a logo for Warcraft 2: Remastered has surfaced on its internal servers.
WoWhead has noticed a new entry for the game on Blizztracker, precisely labeled “Warcraft II: Remastered Internal Alpha.” The logo and a piece of key art for the game were included in Blizzard’s server update.
This artwork appears to be spot on if you recall the naval-heavy theme of Warcraft 2 (“sea, air, and land” was the main selling point for what the sequel offered over the first real-time strategy game).
About the same time that WoWhead discovered the leak, veteran WoW leaker Stiven discovered the files and excitedly shared them on Twitter. Here’s the post:
But What Do Many of the Warcraft Community Feel About This?
Most Warcraft fans and players are feeling a mix of hesitation and excitement. Sure, it’s great to have a remastered version of Warcraft 2. However, if the gameplay’s pretty much the same and if Blizzard adds some of its bovine fecal matter of microtransactions into it, then I’m just personally going to stick with the classic Warcraft 2: Tides of Darkness. But that’s just my humble opinion, of course.
And most players share my thoughts about it as well. Following the notorious release of Warcraft 3 Reforged in poor condition, with features absent from the original game, many players appear reluctant to put their faith in a Blizzard remaster.
Similar to how Overwatch 2 (which had an Overwatch 2 x World of Warcraft: Crossover Event) wiped out Overwatch 1, Reforged also made it difficult to play the original title on the web. This is what really enraged people because all they wanted was to play Overwatch 2 with friends, and I’m sure it’s going to be the same thing Warcraft 2 Remastered fans want. Although there were some improvements made to the Warcraft 3 remaster once it was released, Blizzard never completely addressed player complaints, so modders had to step in.
It’s a classic case of a game developer getting so big that they forget about their core fans. What this Warcraft 2 Remastered leak shows is that Warcraft still has a lot of loyal players. They’re just not really getting into things like this anymore because of Blizzard’s bad decisions as of late.
Will This Mean That the Classic Game Is About to Get a Full Remaster?
Based on the title, it appears that Warcraft 2: Remastered won’t be a complete reimagining of the classic RTS. It’s most likely going to be a version with enhanced graphics and optimization options for PC.
Given what Blizzard accomplished with StarCraft: Remastered and Diablo 2: Resurrected, the game’s core will probably remain the same. Warcraft 2 Remastered will most likely be shown during Warcraft Direct, which is held on November 13, if it is indeed true.
The hypothetical project may also be connected to whatever is going on with Warcraft 3: Reforged. However, we’d still have to wait for any confirmation from Bilzzard if this is indeed legitimate.
Personally, though, I’m really looking forward to this news to be real. I grew up playing Starcraft and Warcraft, and seeing Warcraft get another remaster is quite a thing that I look forward to.
Warcraft 2 Remastered Leak Is Pretty Awesome—If True
Given how disappointing Warcraft 3: Reforged was to numerous players, Warcraft fans are both anxious to find out whether this leak is genuine and concerned. In any case, it appears that players of RTS may have a lot of reasons to watch the Warcraft Direct presentation.
