League of Legends has had an incredible journey, and with 2025 right around the corner, Riot Games is making some big moves.

Players have been eagerly awaiting the new updates, and the upcoming season promises some exciting changes that will definitely shake things up. From new map designs to character reworks, League of Legends Season 2025 has a lot to offer. Here’s a breakdown of what you can expect in the new season.

One of the most exciting changes coming to League of Legends in 2025 is a complete overhaul of the Summoner’s Rift map. Riot Games is introducing a Noxus-inspired visual update that will change how players interact with the map. While the blue buff and river zones will maintain their lush, green, forest-like aesthetic, other areas will see drastic changes.

The main lanes, red buff lanes, and bases will adopt a darker, more industrial feel, inspired by Noxus Prime. This new look promises to bring a more intimidating atmosphere to the battlefield. The visual overhaul doesn’t stop there — minions, turrets, and shopkeepers will get a makeover, bringing them in line with the new aesthetic.

In addition to the map changes, a new plant called the Blood Rose will make an appearance. These flowers will spawn where champions have fallen in battle and provide your team with a small XP boost. Not only that, but they’ll grant a permanent Adaptive Force buff to the champions who pick them up. These changes aim to make the Rift feel more alive, with new elements that can give players a tactical advantage as they push through the game.

Viktor Rework: A Nod to Arcane

Another major change coming in League of Legends season 2025 is a rework of Viktor, one of the game’s most iconic champions. Riot Games is aligning Viktor’s design with his portrayal in Arcane, which is sure to excite fans of the animated series. His new visuals and audio will reflect his updated design from Teamfight Tactics, which should provide a more cohesive experience for players who are also fans of the Arcane series.

Viktor’s ultimate ability will also see a significant change: his final move will grow in size with every kill until it’s fully charged. This will not only make him more powerful but also more rewarding to play, giving skilled players a visual spectacle as they rack up kills.

However, there’s a downside. All of Viktor’s skins will be updated to match his new look, and as a result, his price will increase from 520 RP to 750 RP. If you’ve been eyeing him, now is the time to grab him before the price increase.

For fans of Arcane who’ve been thinking about trying out League of Legends but aren’t sure where to start, Season 2025 could be the perfect opportunity. With Viktor’s rework closely tied to Arcane, and the exciting new map and features, now is a great time to dive in. Not sure who to start playing with? Atakhan: A New Boss on the Rift

League of Legends Season 2025 will introduce a brand-new boss into the game: Atakhan. This enemy comes straight from Legends of Runeterra and will spawn in the jungle after the 20-minute mark. Atakhan’s spawn is linked to kills, with the boss targeting the lane with the most kills. If no kills have occurred, Atakhan will instead spawn in the lane with the most damage dealt.

What makes this addition so exciting is the unpredictability of Atakhan’s spawn. Players won’t know exactly where the boss will appear until later in the game, adding an element of surprise and excitement. There are two versions of Atakhan: Ruinous Atakhan and Voracious Atakhan.

The Ruinous Atakhan is the tougher version, appearing in high-stakes, fast-paced games with plenty of damage and kills. Defeating this version rewards the team with an increase in Epic monster rewards and leaves behind a field of Blood Roses. On the other hand, Voracious Atakhan will spawn in games where kills and damage are lower, providing a more manageable challenge. The reward for defeating Voracious Atakhan is a rebirth buff and increased gold from champion takedowns, which can be crucial for teams that are behind.

Swiftplay: A New Mode for Casual Fun

To round out the changes for Season 2025, League of Legends will introduce Swiftplay, a new game mode being tested in select regions. Swiftplay is designed to be a more laid-back, faster-paced version of Summoner’s Rift. This mode is perfect for players who want to practice their skills without the pressure of Ranked matches.

Swiftplay alters several elements of the traditional game to make it easier for players to jump in and enjoy a quicker, more relaxed experience. Gold and XP rewards will increase as the game progresses, with additional rewards for players who are behind or playing support roles. Key moments, such as turret plating and Baron spawns, will happen earlier in the game to speed things up, giving players more opportunities to make big plays.

While it’s still competitive, Swiftplay is less about dominating your opponent and more about developing your champion skills. It’s a great option for newcomers or for anyone who wants a less stressful experience while still enjoying the core mechanics of League of Legends.
